Zoom Coffee Wins Bronze Medal 2 years Running.
At the Equal Golden Bean Coffee Roaster Awards November 15-16 2008
We are proud to announce that our Zoom Coffee has won 2 bronze medals in this year’s competition,
Bronze medal in the category of Organic Espresso. ( 2 years running)
Bronze medal in the category of Australian Grown.
More than 600 entries were received from 120 coffee roasters around Australia. Zoom Coffee ranked overall in the top 5% of roasters in Australia 2 years running.
This Year the “Equal Golden Bean” saw the biggest uptake of coffee entries ever in Australian coffee competitions, with close to 80% of Australian roasters participating in six coffee brew categories, entering over 800 individual packs of coffee.
It was a huge job for the roasters and baristas that attended the event, having to taste and judge so many coffees, however it was well organised due to the experience of world barista judge and cupping expert Justin Metcalf who coordinated the logistics of juggling clean and fresh tasting palates.
The Equal Golden Bean Coffee Roaster Competition aims to give due recognition to Australia’s best coffee roasters from an independent forum of expert industry and consumer judges.
Australia now has over 200 speciality and commercial coffee roasters across the nation. The Equal Golden Bean award process looks to find the best of the best for a group of commercial categories of roasted coffee production.
Zoom Coffee rated Green friendly.
We are proud to announce our success at the 2008 Lennox Head Business Excellence Awards sponsored by the Northern Star.
Zoom Coffee won the" Green Business Award". 2008
We were awarded this title for our initiatives to minimise the impact of our coffee manufacturing and waste.
Minimising waste is integral to the company’s environmental aims. Green coffee beans are sun-dried and supplied in hessian bags that are refilled. Natural gas is used to power the coffee roaster. All coffee packaging is single packed using reusable coffee bags. Paper and cardboard are recycled while wholesale customers order online, accounts are paid online, and invoices emailed.
From ‘coffee bean to cup’ means nurturing close working relationships with growers to guarantee excellence throughout every part of the production process - and the customer.
We congratulate the Lennox Head Chamber Of Commerce on another successful awards night and wish to thank the Northern Star (the event's major sponsor) and North East Waste Forum (the sponsor of the Green Business category) for their sponsorship. We look forward to the ongoing challenge of balancing the needs of our business with those of the environment in which we operate.
